Privacy Policy - ezMoto

This policy describes what data the ezMoto mobile app (dev.ezmoto.app, "the App") processes, why, and your rights. The App is a motorcycle navigation tool. We try to collect as little as possible.

2. Data processed by the App

• Precise location (GPS). Used to show your position on the map, calculate routes, and run turn-by-turn navigation. Location is read on your device while the App is open or while a ride is active (foreground location service with a persistent notification). The App does not request background location.
• Search queries. Place names you type into the search bar are sent to the geocoding service to return matching places.
• Route requests. Start, destination, and waypoints are sent to the routing service to compute a route.
• Map tile requests. The map view requests tile images from the active tile provider. Each request reveals your IP address and the rough area of the map you are viewing.
• Ride history. Routes and rides you save are stored only on your device (local Hive database). They are not transmitted to us or to any third party.

The App does not contain advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, crash reporting SDKs, or social login. There are no user accounts.

3. Recipients (third-party services)

To deliver navigation, the App contacts these services. Each provider receives your IP address and the request payload described above.

• Routing - Valhalla, hosted at valhalla1.openstreetmap.de (operated by the OpenStreetMap community / FOSSGIS e.V.). Receives route coordinates.
• Geocoding - Photon, hosted at photon.komoot.io (operated by komoot GmbH). Receives search queries.
• Map tiles - OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org, operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation) and OpenTopoMap (a.tile.opentopomap.org). Receives tile coordinates and your IP.

These providers act as independent controllers for the data they receive. Their own privacy statements apply: OSMF (osmfoundation.org), komoot (komoot.com/privacy), OpenTopoMap (opentopomap.org/about).

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

• Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR - performance of the service you requested (showing the map, computing a route, running navigation).
• Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR - our legitimate interest in operating the App securely (e.g. transport encryption via HTTPS).

5. Storage and retention

• Location and route data are processed in memory while you use the App and are not stored on our servers.
• Ride history is stored on your device until you delete it from within the App or uninstall the App.
• Third-party providers may keep short-lived request logs (typically IP and timestamp) for abuse prevention. See their policies.

6. Transfers outside the EEA

The services listed above are operated within the EU/EEA. Tile requests to OSM may be served by globally distributed caches.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and objection. You may withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (e.g. the data protection authority of your German state of residence). For requests concerning the App, contact us at the address in section 1.

8. Permissions used on Android

• ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION - read GPS during use.
• FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_LOCATION - keep the GPS stream alive during an active ride, with a persistent notification.
• INTERNET - contact routing, geocoding, and tile services.
• WAKE_LOCK - keep the screen on during navigation.

9. Children

The App is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly process data of children.

10. Changes

We may update this policy when the App changes. The current version is always available at this URL.
